SOLD Oh la la! Contemporary and Retro!
SOLD Utterly beautiful one-of-a-kind vintage oak table.
Barleytwist - here given a retro/contemporary twist - is a style that spans time and place.
V&A design records tell us that barleytwist was used in French-made furniture by the mid-seventeenth century. This elegant scrolling, curling wood - both robust yet delicate - is made by spiral turning and is the mark of a skilled craftsman. English woodturners soon repeated the decorative finishing and the barleytwist leg - named after sugar spun spirals - became a firm favourite of home interiors.
This little table has been treated with love and care to allow all its quirky vintage appeal to shine through.
Bleached wood and waxed top
is combined with chalk mint-green gate-fold. Paints are layered to
reveal gentle tones of whites to dark. The whole, with all its wonderful ripples and twists, pops a perfect note into
a hall, landing, bedroom, kitchen corner, or conservatory.
While fitting effortlessly into French-style shabby chic interior, this little table is equally at home in a variety of interior designs -
contemporary, farmhouse, cottage, English country, traditional, beach
and coastal.
