Vintage Hat Stand from Levine & Son - a fine example from British industrial heritage shop displays of 1930s £220.00
Levine and Son, Commercial Shop fitters, occupied 19 and 21 Commercial Street, Whitechapel E1 in the early to mid 20th Century.
Located
in London's East End at the heart of the retail trade, Levine and Son
manufactured display stands, fixtures and furnishings, focusing on
functionality and quality.
Now sought after as collector's items
in part due to the stamped name 'Levine and Son' and the location
'London E1', this fine display stand is not only a beautiful item from
history, it remains a perfectly practical item for your everyday.
The
velvet domed top is in good condition, remaining smooth and
well-rounded with no threads, no holes, no wrinkles. The column bears a
patina from age and use: the lovely mark of history. The telescopic
length can be raised and lowered with a delicate embossed screw bearing
maker's mark, photographed here during cleaning.
At full height
the hat stand reaches a towering 194cm, adjusting down to 111cm. Taking a
small footprint - the base measures 16cm x 16cm - the stand would look
perfect in a hallway, entrance point, by a doorway into a garden, or
taking pride of place at your coat and shoe racks.
A little investment purchase that will grow in value and desirability.
