Vintage Jones Pine Folding Wooden Ladder, 6-steps, Useful and Beautiful!
Bursting into the interior design and makeover scene like KABOOM! are vintage wooden step ladders!
Not
surprising. Ladders are useful, Everywhere! Practical hangers in your
bathroom for towels. Functional in a hall for boots and shoes. Handy in
your kitchen for jars and vintage tins. Funky shelving in your living
room for books, plants and knick-knacks. Quirky accessory in a toilet
for loo-rolls, hand towels and soap.
While we'd recommend these
ladders for decorative and ornamental use, to test the strength of this
particular beauty, we sent a member of Blackphonevintage (weight: 12
stone) into the garden to go up them. While we watched.
They didn't fall off! Reporting all five steps to the top plate as firm, not wobbling, strong and sturdy.
This
pair belonged to Jones, now yours. Gently paint splattered, rubbed
down, cleaned, waxed, all hinges checked for security. Marks, scars,
wounds and abrasions the result of handling: a lovely record of use,
carefully and careless. The top extension on hinges folds down. As does
the entire ladder, folding neatly for storage.
Possibly circa 1919 as in the applied maker's mark 'JONES'S PATENT' and inscribed on metal plate 'No. 135683 - 1919'.
Put
them upright. Lay them flat. Hang them on a wall on wooden pegs. In
retail spaces, shop window displays, your home, our home, anyone's
garden. Fantastic. Flexible, fun and funky!
What more can we say? We love 'em.
