Two Vintage Cane / Rattan Stools on Iron Base

 

Two matching stools with cane and rattan seat and metal base. Wicker weave is good in all areas, reflecting solid construction from the time of making, we believe in the early 1960s.

The shaped backrest adds security and comfort for the sitter, easily taking a cushion or throw. The foot rest is even and comfortable. The legs are stable with rubber feet pads intact.

Evidence of hand manufacture shows through a comparison between the pair, indicating they were probably made at the same location, some time apart.

We have simply cleaned the chairs, leaving the patina in place on the legs to tell us of age and use. One chair has a very slight curve to one rear leg; this does not affect stability. One chair has lost a little binding at the back, as in photographs.

For circulating space needed, the diameter of the foot rest is 45cm; the height of the tallest chair is 108cm and the height to seat is 75cm. Seat diameter is 40cm.
